W
Mr. Todd Del Frate -2-
SECOND
2 -
SECOND SEMIANNUAL 2017 GROUNDWATER AND SURFACE WATER MONITORING REPORT,
FOOTHILL SANITARY LANDFILL
Methane was not detected in the interior soil gas wells during the 2nd semiannual 2017 sampling
event.
As presented in section "COMPLIANCE HISTORY SUMMARY" of this report is a discussion of
the 4 to 5 -year lag time between corrective actions taken at the surface of the site and
observations of responses to those actions within groundwater. Therefore, the additional landfill
gas extraction wells and other additional landfill gas extraction efforts taken with the landfill may
take several years to produce observable changes in the groundwater beneath the site.
However, the enhanced tuning of the LFG wellfield by the County's operator that was ordered
following the results of the first semi-annual monitoring event appears to have a positive impact
on the levels of VOCs in MW -3. The rather dry summer and fall months may also be helping
with LFG recovery as compared to the heavy rains of the previous rainy season.
I certify under penalty of perjury that I am familiar with the information submitted in this report,
and to the best of my knowledge the report is true, accurate, and complete.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (209) 953-7316.
Sincerely,
6y".
TAJ M.
