+ a4 <br />FOOTHILL LANDFILL - REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITION <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />van Joaquin County is proposing to acquire the real property <br />interest of Foothill Landfill. This property consists of <br />approximately 880 acres located east of Waverly Road in San <br />Joaquin County and in Stanislaus County. The project being <br />reviewed by this document is defined as the transfer of the real <br />property interest from the present owners to San Joaquin County. <br />Since 1965, this property has been operated as a landfill. The <br />site currently operates as a Class III landfill under Solid Waste <br />Facilities Permit Number 39 -AA -004. Because of an existing lona <br />term lease and operating agreement the site will continue to be <br />used for this purpose regardless of the ownership of the real <br />3 <br />The San Joaquin County Planning Department has determined that <br />the acquisition of this property by San Joaquin County is in <br />conformance to the General Plan Map and Policies as required by <br />Government Code Section 65402. <br />The operation of the landfill is presently limited to an 85 acre <br />portion of this site by a County Land Use Permit. The transfer of <br />the real property interest will not effect the operation of the <br />facility. Any future expansion of use or physical change to the <br />site or surrounding environment will be reviewed in accordance to <br />the California Environmental Quality Act. <br />
