A field investigation conducted by Hydro -Search at FSL was observed by
Kleinfelder geologists and included the following activities:
o Drilling four soil borings to depths of 20 feet, 45 feet, 50 feet,
and 100 feet for the purpose of constructing monitoring wells.
o Installing three 1 -inch -diameter PVC monitoring wells.
o Removing and backfilling three monitoring wells and one soil boring.
o Drilling ten 3 -foot -deep soil borings and measuring soil gas
concentrations using an HNU photoionization device (PID) and
combustible gas analyzer.
o Collecting and submitting water samples from an onsite domestic
water well for volatile halogenated hydrocarbons by EPA Method 601,
electrical conductance, pH, and total dissolved solids.
4.2 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
Monitoring wells were installed in three of the four soil borings (Figure
2, Soil Boring/Monitoring Well Location Map), but were subsequently
removed and backfilled between April 27 and April 29, 1988.
The monitoring wells were constructed in 6 -inch -diameter boreholes using
the following materials:
104-88-683
4
