Monitoring Well 3, (MW -3) located along the east side of the landfill near
MW -2, (see Figure 2) was constructed on April 28, 1988. MW -3 was
constructed in a 50 -foot -deep boring as follows:
o Screen Section - 50 to 40 feet
o Sand Pack - 50 to 35 feet
No bentonite seal was placed in MW -3 because bentonite pellets were not
available onsite at the time this well was constructed. This well was
later removed and the boring backfilled with grout.
4.3 MONITORING WELL ABANDONMENT
Hydro -Search decided to abandon the three monitoring wells shortly after
their installation 'because no fluids or saturated sediments were
encountered.
On April 28, 1988, prior to construction of MW -3, Hydro -Search's geologist
used a 1/2 inch diameter bailer to check for the presence of fluids in
B-1, MW -1, and MW -2. No free fluids were detected. This information was
communicated to Hydro -Search's Reno office for evaluation while MW -3 was
being constructed. After MW -3 was constructed, Hydro -Search's field
Is 104-88-683 6
Adilk Aft IF
W 114V
k'q KLEINFELDER
Hydro -Search had intended
to place the grout seal after
all the monitoring
wells installed.
This step was not required because
MW -1 and all other
monitoring wells were
removed and the borings backfilled
with grout.
Monitoring Well 2,
(MW -2) constructed on April 27, 1988,
was located along
,the east side of
the landfill (see Figure 2). MW -2 was constructed in a
20 -foot -deep boring
as follows:
o Screen Section
- 20 to 10 feet
o Sand Pack
- 20 to 8 feet
o Bentonite Seal
- 8 to 5 feet
This well was later
removed and the boring backfilled with grout.
Monitoring Well 3, (MW -3) located along the east side of the landfill near
MW -2, (see Figure 2) was constructed on April 28, 1988.
