INFORMATION SHEET
WASTE MANAGEMENT OF NORTH AMERICA INCORPORATED
FOOTHILL SANITARY LANDFILL INCORPORATED
FOOTHILL SANITARY LANDFILL FACILITY
CLASS III LANDFILL
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Foothill Sanitary Landfill is in San Joaquin County on the east side of Waverly
Road, approximately one mile south of Shelton Road. The facility covers
approximately 800 acres, but current activities are limited to about 85 acres of
the site.
Foothill Sanitary Landfill is an existing Class 11-2 landfill . The property is
owned by Waste Management of North America Incorporated and is operated by
Foothill Sanitary Landfill Incorporated under Solid Waste Facilities Permit
number 39-AA-004 issued by the San Joaquin Local Health District, and WDRs
issued under Board Order No. 71-110.
These revised WDRs replace Board Order 71-110 and reclassify the site from 11-2
to a Class III landfill under the new Subchapter 15 requirements.
The water table is at approximately 200 feet below the lowest planned excavation
level of the site. The mean annual precipitation is about 12.5 inches. Soils
under the site are clays, silts, and fine sands , and extend to depths of at
least 100 feet.
The land within 1000 feet of the site is used for agriculture. Ground and
surface water in the area is used for municipal , agricultural , and industrial
supply.
JKT:sg
