Gentlemen: Listed below are recommendations that we would like to have included in the proposed solid waste facility permit for the Foothill Sanitary Landfill at 6584 N.Waverly Rd. The below listed recommendations are basielly the same as the Calif. State Div. of Forestry's are . The Foothill Sanitary Landfill is within the boundries of the State Div. of Forestry's responsibility area and therefore the Linden-Peters Rural Fire District is mostly concerned with the Structural Protection along with personnel property and other improvements within and with out the Dump Site; 1. The operational area of the dump, outside the active dump site shall be maintained free and clear of all flammable vegetation and materials. 2. Install a 4-inch water main from the main water source to within 150 feet of the active dumping area. Install in the awter main, stand-pipes of 4" diameter, at intervals not to exceed 400 feet. These stand-pipes shall extend a minium of 24" above the Ground and will have a shut-off valve with male National Standard threads, each equipped with a cap. 3. Have a minium of 500 feet of 1 1/2" cotten jacketed fire hose in serviceable coedit n, with two nozzles. 4. Maintain a movable fence along the South side of the landfill with a mesh of no greater than 1" by I" of "hog wire or cyclone type"to a minuim of 10 feet vertical distance above the high point of the operating dump area. 5. Maintain around the South and East sides of the dump operating area, a minuim of 400 foot clearance of all flammable vegetation and other flammable material. 6. Maintain around the North and West sides of the dump operating area, a minuim of 150 foot clearnce of all flammable vegetation and other flammable material. 7. For the purpose of isolating possiable fires: (A) The active area will be broken up into cells no greater than 150 feet in length by 50 to 8 "feet in breadth and be separated by dikes of clean soil for a minium of 8 feet in width. At the end of each work day, that portion of any cell containing accumulated rubbish shall be covered with clear soil a minuim of 6 inches and compacted. 8. Equipment,consisting of the following: (A) A water tanker in 2211atable condition with a minuim of 2,000 gals and a pump capable of producing 100 pounds pressure at the 1 1/2" outlet and 100 feet of 1 1/2" pre-conn- ected cotten jacketed fire hose with a 1 1/2" nozzle (1) Con't)
