ADDITIONAL PERMIT PROVISIONS FOR THE PREVENTION OF UNCONTROLLED FIRE <br /> 1. The 30-acre operational area of the dump (enclosed by existing 6-strand <br /> barbed wire fence) outside the active dump site shall be maintained free and <br /> clear of all flammable vegetation and materials between the period of this <br /> permit . <br /> 2 . Install a 411 water main from main water source to within 150' of active <br /> dumping area. Install in the water main , stand pipes of 2J_,,11 diameter, at <br /> intervals not to exceed 400' . These stand pipes shall extend a minimum of <br /> 24" above the ground and will have a shut-off valve with male National Stan- <br /> dard threads with each equipped with a cap . Install one hydrant at least 50' <br /> from the pump building but no more than 100' from the equipment storage build- <br /> ing. All plumbing in the hydrant water supply system must be at least 4" in <br /> diameter, except the 21" diameter hydrant standpipes. <br /> 3. Have 5001 of 1L,11 cotton jacket fire hose in serviceable condition, with <br /> two 9/1611 tips. <br /> 4. Maintain around the south and east sides of the dump operating area, a <br /> minimum of 400' clearance of all flammable vegetation and other flammable <br /> material. <br /> 5. Maintain around the north and west sides of the dump operating area, a <br /> mini-mum of 150' clearance of all flammable vegetation and other flammable <br /> material . <br /> 6. For the purpose of isolating possible fires : <br /> a. The active area will be broken up into cells no greater than <br /> 1501 in length by 50' in breadth by 2 ' in depth and be separated by dikes of <br /> clean soil for a minimum of 8 ' in thickness. At the end of each working day , <br /> that portion of any cell containing accumulated rubbish shall be covered with <br /> clear soil a minimum of 6" and compacted. <br /> 7. Equipment , consisting of the following: <br /> a. Water tanker, minimum of 2, 000 gal. , with a pump capable of <br /> of producing 100 lbs. pressure at the 12" outlet and 1001 of 1-1-11 cot-Lon <br /> 2 <br /> jacket firehose in serviceable condition with 1z" shut-off nozzle. <br /> b. At least three (3) pieces of dirt-moving equipment , in oper- <br /> able c(_-1,nd,_.tion, adequate to fulfill the terms of this permit . <br /> 8. All fires will be immediately reported upon discovery, to the Linden- <br /> Peters '_: re District , phone 887-3411, and the California Department of Forest- <br /> ry, phone 754-3561 . <br /> 9. A_o-,_ - the entrance road, maintain to the existing fence lines, clear- <br /> ance of all flammable vegetation and other flammable material . <br /> 10. Tho lectrical power supply to the hydrant system pump shall be separ- <br /> ate from th-L; power supply to any other structure at the landfill site. <br />
