The Stockton sewerage survey produced in 1964-65 shows
sewer service at the proposed subdivision site by the
year 2000. The Stockton City Public Works Department,
however, says that the Brown and Caldwell Report has
been greatly affected by economic changes, growth
estimate revisions and shifts in the General Plan.
Therefore, although sewers may reach the project site
at some future date, it is presently beyond con-
templation of the Public Works Department.
The County Department of Public Works shows a drainage
line proposed for Cherokee Road east of Cherryland to
Overhiser Road and there is a 27" line proposed south
on Cherryland all along the subject property (see map
below). Terminal drainage whould be in the Calaveras
River, about 1 mile to the north in line with Cherryland
Avenue. Actual construction depends on sufficient
development funds in the planned unit 9I Drainage Trust,
until such funds are available in the indeterminate
future. Therefore, interim drainage must be supplied
by each individual developer. Each development's
drainage system should be constructed to fit into the
ultimate area drainage plans, as shown on unit 9I of
Master Storm Drainage Map, January 1973, prepared for
the San Joaquin County Department of Public Works. The
County Department of Public Works will approve the
installation of water mains if they conform to engineer-
ing requirements. The Master Water Plan for Stockton -
East Water District, prepared by Stoddard and Associates
Civil Engineers, Los Banos, points out the problems
with continued ground water overdraft. It is likely
that total dissolved solids will require homeowners
to install water softening devices. Stockton -East
Water District does not intend to install underground
mains east of the diverting canal. The master plan
does not contemplate mains either, yet they will be
required to supply surface water if the overdraft
problem is to be solved. Therefore, the wells supply-
ing this subdivision should be considered as an interim
solution on a long-term basis. As such, the water
mains in this subdivision should be adequate to allow
connection to a main in Cherokee or Cherryland Avenue
when such a main becomes a reality.
There are no specific plans for Cherryland Avenue or
Cherokee Road. It is reasonable to assume that heavy
duty trucks will contribute significantly to traffic
on Cherokee Road in the vicinity of Highway 99.
The site as proposed interferes with no flight path
or navigation channels, whether presently or proposed
for the future.
-18-
