Michael Carroll, PE
Senior Civil Engineer
SUBJECT: LANDFILL GAS MONITORING AT FOOTHILL SANITARY LANDFILL
On March 21, 2002, Solid Waste Division staff monitored for landfill gas migration at the
Foothill Sanitary Landfill. Results from the First Quarter 2002 Monitoring Event show that all
probes and structures are free of methane (Figure 1).
PVC pipes with caps were monitored for methane in accordance with the approved monitoring
plan. The pipes are open at the bottom, and are approximately 2.5 feet deep. The County used
a Landtec GEM 500 Gas Extraction Monitor to perform the monitoring. The instrument was
calibrated by County staff prior to monitoring.
If you have any questions, please contact me at extension 8-3066.
MC:NZ:mr
N:\IFoothill\LFGperimMonit\lst2OO2.wpd
Attachment
c: Gino Yekta
California Integrated Waste Management Board
1001 "I" Street
Sacramento, California 95812
LA 31209
