FLINN <br />DEPUTY DIRECTOR <br />MANUELLOPEZ <br />DEPUTY DIRECTOR <br />STEVEN WINKLER <br />DEPUTY DIRECTOR <br />On June 28, 1996, Solid Waste Division staff monitored for <br />landfill gas migration in accordance with previously submitted <br />monitoring plans for the Foothill Sanitary Landfill. <br />The County used a Landtec GEM 500 landfill gas monitor. The GEM <br />500 is capable of detecting methane in total percentages and <br />Lower Explosive Limit, Carbon Dioxide, and Oxygen concentrations. <br />In addition, the GEM is capable of measuring pressure and gas <br />flow. The instrument was calibrated using calibration gas <br />canisters containing (1) 15 percent methane, 15 percent Carbon <br />Dioxide, balance Nitrogen, and (2) 4 percent Oxygen, balance <br />Nitrogen. <br />The results from the June 1996 monitoring event are shown on the <br />attached map.
