identification number. Monitoring wells shall be assigned the
identification numbers as indicated on the drawings.
3.3.10 Well Development
A. Within 7 days of completion of each well, but no sooner than 48 hours
after cement grouting is completed, the well shall be developed.
Development shall be performed using only mechanical surging or over
pumping or a combination thereof per ASTM D 5521. A well
development record shall be maintained. Development is complete when:
1. Well water is clear to the unaided eye,
2. Sediment thickness in the well is less than 0.1 foot,
3. A minimum of three times the standing water volume in the well plus
three times the volume of all added water and drilling fluid lost during
drilling and installation of the well is removed, and
4. Temperature, specific conductivity,pH,oxidation-reduction potential
(ORP),dissolved oxygen (DO), and turbidity readings, measured
before, twice during and after development operations, have stabilized.
Stabilization shall mean variation of less than 0.2 pH units, variation
of± I degree Fahrenheit,±3 percent change in specific conductance;
± 10mV for ORP; and± 10 percent for DO, and turbidity,measured
between three consecutive readings with one casing volume of water
removed between each reading.
3.04 SURVEYS
A. Coordinates and elevations shall be established for each monitoring well
in both local grid coordinates and in accordance with State of California
Electronic Submittal of Information requirements for the Geotracker data
base system (more information on Geotracker requirements may be
obtained from the California State Water Resources Control Board at
www.waterboards.ca.gov/ust/cleanup/electronic_reporting/index.html).
Horizontal coordinates (latitude and longitude) shall be measured in
decimal degrees, and reported to seven decimal points. Horizontal
coordinates shall be determined with Third Order methods using a
minimum of two reference points: California Spatial Reference System-
Horizontal (CSRS-H) or two horizontal geodetic control points derived
from the CSRS-H and must be determined from the NAD 83 datum.
Elevation shall be surveyed using the NAVD88 datum. The relative
elevations of locations on the site (intersite well elevations) are to be
measured within 0.01 ft. The accuracy of the absolute elevation (tied to
Foothill Landfill Site Improvement Project 9 GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELLS
San Joaquin County Public Works Section 02522
