RM I of 3 <br />r RM - Stomar clay loam, 0 to 2 percent slopes. This very deep, well <br />drained soil is on nearly level alluvial fans. It formed in alluvium <br />from sedimentary rock sources. Elevation is 40 to 300 feet. The <br />average annual precipitation is about 10 inches, the average annual air <br />temperature is about 60 degrees F, and the average frost -free period is <br />about 270 days. <br />Typically, the surface layer is grayish brown clay loam about 17 inches <br />thick. The upper 9 inches of the subsoil is brown clay loam. The <br />lower 21 inches is brown clay. The substratum to a depth of 60 inches <br />or more is yellowish brown clay loam. It is calcareous between the <br />depths of 17 and 60 inches. In some areas the surface layer is silty <br />clay loam or loam. <br />included in this unit are small areas of Cap--) flay, Ei Soiyo clay <br />loam, Willows clay and Pescadero clay loam.- Also included are small <br />areas of soils similar to Stomar soils with mottles at depths of 2.4 to <br />rrhes or perched water tables at depths of 48 to 60 inches. <br />lnr; uded areas make up about 15 percent of the total acreage. <br />Permeability of t`.Is 7tomar soi'. is slow.
