CHAPTER 25 . STANDARDS OF DESIGN--UTILITY DISTRIBUTION FACILITIES <br /> SECTION 9-9390 . UTILITY DISTRIBUTION AND TRANSMISSION <br /> FACILITIES TO BE PLACED UNDERGROUND. All utility distribution <br /> and transmission facilities supplying electric, communication or <br /> similar or associated service, to any residential subdivision <br /> shall be placed underground; provided however, that the word <br /> "facilities" as used herein shall not include standards used for <br /> street lighting, traffic signals, pedestals for police and fire <br /> system communications and alarms, pad-mounted transformers, <br /> pedestals, pedestal-mounted terminal boxes and meter cabinets , <br /> concealed ducts, substations, and facilities used to carry <br /> voltage higher than thirty-five thousand volts . <br /> Source: Ordinance No . 2634 . <br /> SECTION 9-9391 . RURAL RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISION. In rural <br /> residential subdivisions, the Planning Commission may waive the <br /> requirement for underground utilities if it finds that such <br /> undergrounding is economically infeasible, incompatible with the <br /> surrounding area, or impossible because of soil or topography. <br /> Source: Ordinance No . 2634 . <br /> SECTION 9-9392 . LOCATION OF UNDERGROUND UTILITIES . When <br /> underground distribution facilities for public utilities are to <br /> be installed, they shall be located in a public right-of-way or <br /> public utility easement. No public utility distribution facili- <br /> ties shall be located outside a public right-ofway or public util- <br /> ity easement except in providing service to the parcel on which <br /> they are located. <br /> Source: Ordinance No . 2634 . <br /> SECTION 9-9393. LOCATION OF OVERHEAD UTILITIES. Overhead <br /> utility lines, when permitted by the Board of Supervisors, shall <br /> be located in a public utility easement at the rear of lots or <br /> parcels and along the side of lots or parcels where necessary. <br /> The precise location is to be approved by the Department of <br /> Public Works .
