flights . It is estimated by the owner-operator that up to 30
percent of the airport operations occur on the secondary runway
( i . e. , 32 , 000 operations per year) .
Future Considerations :
Fixed base aircraft volume has been increasing by 10 to 15
airplanes per year, which represents an annual growth rate of
approximately nine percent per year. This growth is limited by
the number of hangar spaces available, with 80 new hangar spaces
having been added during the past two years . Consideration is
being given to adding 20 more hangar spaces and an additional
40, 000 square feet of shop facilities within the next two years .
The owner-operator expects to add a major fixed base operator to
the facility this year, consisting of a passenger and freight
airline with three Lockheed Electras and four Lear jets. This
operator will also employ up to 70 people .
In order to accommodate this new operation, relocation and
lengthening of the secondary runway will be required. This new
runway will probably be relocated to the west of the present
secondary runway. In conjunction with this facility improvement ,
the owner-operator intends to submit an amended airport master
plan to the Airport Land Use Commission for consideration and
adoption .
References :
Cal-Trans, Division of Aeronautics ; Dennis Williams, Aviation
Consultant and Sandy Hesnard, Environmental Planner ; personal
communication.
Kupka, Robert ; Lodi (Lind' s) Airport Owner-Operator ; personal
communication.
Metropolitan Transportation Commission and Association of Bay
Area Governments ; Airport Land Use Planning Handbook; July 1983 .
San Joaquin County Council of Governments (Airport Land Use
Commission) ; Airport Land Use Plan; October 25, 1983 .
Report prepared by: Bruce Baracco, Associate Planner
Lodi ( Land' s) Airport - 3 - (PC : 4-2-87)
