As you
are aware, the County will use a mobile lab during the site investigation of our EMP. It has come
to our attention that most mobile labs are not equipped for analyzing samples using Method
TO-14A. However, the equipment used to analyze samples using Method 8260B is commonly
found m' mobile labs. Therefore, our specifications will identify Method 8260B as the method to
analyze soil gas samples.
Method 8260B will also be used to analyze groundwater samples for Volatile Organic
Compounds. The use of Method 8260B for both groundwater and soil gas analysis increases the
confidence when comparing analytical results of the collected samples.
If you have any questions, please call me at 468-3066.
Sincerely,
W.MICHAEL CARROLL, PE
Senior Civil Engineer
MC:NZ:mr
N:\lFoothill\Groundwater Monitoring\EvalMonitPlan\Foothill 8260B.wpd
c: ,Robert McClellon,Environmental Health Department'
LA 31610
