Join perforated probe section to bottom section of probe pipe. <br />4 Cut sampling tubing to correct length and insert top end into small <br />end of rubber stopper. <br />C. Fabrication: <br />1. Do not use solvent cement to complete joints. <br />D. Dimensions: <br />1. The depth and length of the pea gravel sampling zones may be <br />adjusted by the Engineer, based on geologic data obtained during <br />the drilling. <br />3.06 SOIL GAS WELL INSTALLATION <br />A. Complete installations as promptly as progress of the Work permits. <br />B. Set probe pipes vertically plumb in the borings. <br />C. Backfilling: <br />Place backfill materials in a controlled manner to avoid bridging or <br />overfilling the boring, or damaging the probe casings. Remove any <br />loose vegetation from the area of the borehole and avoid placing of <br />any organic materials into the borehole. <br />2. Minimize wetting of the sidewall of the boring, to avoid build-up of <br />hydrated bentonite on the surface. <br />3. Add water after 2 feet of pea gravel has been placed over bentonite. <br />Add 30 gallons of water to hydrate each bentonite lift. Do not add <br />excessive water, which would flood the sample zone. <br />3.07 CEMENT SLURRY INSTALLATION <br />A. Cement slurry shall be installed four hours or more after hydrating the upper <br />bentonite layer.
