Recent 36-mo periodic testing documented
"fail" for all secondary piping pressure integrity and UDC hydrostatic integrity but the testing was attempted with all
secondary piping termination boots removed. With the new drip-floor UDC adapter frames at the site, the UDC necks are
now significantly closed and thus the piping termination boots are not accessible from grade for secondary testing.
To make the UDCs and the secondary piping testable, valved secondary jumpers will be installed for all termination boots.
This configuration allows each UDC to act as "point of earliest detection" containment structure for the secondary piping
and to be "closable" from grade for periodic secondary testing. Test jumper valve remains open to UDC floor for site
operation and is closed only for testing (jumper lead/valve pulled up to grade via pull cord/leash). Secondary
communication will remain testable/provable (from end of piping run to STP).
I will transmit 48-hour notice of secondary testing as soon as we configure the site (jumper installation) and are ready to
test the site. This will be to satisfy the current 36-mo periodic.
Regards
Case Gilson
Armer/Norman & Associates, Inc.
CA License 256896
925/671-9200 - Armer/Norman office
925/499-1032 - mobile (text is best)
case@armer-norman.com
t-F) Icon, Secondary Test Jumper with Valve.pdf
241K
