A narrow band of <br /> wetland vegetation was observed along the bank, dominated by rabbitsfoot grass, however <br /> most of the vegetation growing in the channel were upland species such as wild oats and <br /> mustard (Brassica nigra). The charnel narrows and ends abruptly as the terrain becomes flat <br /> and opens into a field. This drainage is classified as waters of the U.S. (see Sheet 3). <br /> Drainage B and Pond <br /> This drainage flows from a culvert under the C:alLfomia Aqueduct down a narrow canyon. <br /> The drainage s\vale is only two feet across, however the presence of algal growth along the <br /> bottom of the channel clearly defines the boundaries. The Swale is surrounded by upland <br /> species such as mustard and rye grass. The swale appears to end in a flattened area dominated <br /> by upland species. The narrow canyon drains to a pond. •Two data points were taken to <br /> define the extent of the pond. At the pond's edge curly dock and Mediterranean barley <br /> (Hordeum marimm: stip gussoneanum) were the dominant species.
