Complaint Investigation Summary Report #: 5105
COMPLAINT ID: COPTABZPB Site Location: MOKELUMNE SLOUGH AT STATE ROUTE 12
Activity Summary
Activity Date Recorded by
05/02/2021 [Cal OES Control #:21-2335] MURO
5:37 PM Received page from SJGH 209-468-6000 to report a "sunken vessel" and
request to call Randal at Cal OES at 916-845-8911. I called Randal and was told
that they do not have much information other than what was previously received
from SJGH and request to call Rashaun Combs, US Coast Guard (USCG)
707-374-2871. Spoke to Eberlee Pasero (USCG). She reported:
USCG was no longer on scene.
- The vessel was not completely sunken, it was grounded on N. Mokulumne
Slough.
Tow Boat will be salvaging the boat tomorrow morning.
The boat did not "release that much".
- Provided boat owner acid Tow Boat contact numbers.
Eberlee sent three photos to my cell phone and a pin for location.
Received another page from SJGH, requesting i call Paul from Cal OES regarding
the same incident. I called Paul, and he reported the coordinates on the OES Spill
report may not be accurate. I let him know I had received a pin from USCG.
Called Lead Seniors Stacy Rivera, Haza Saeed, and Garrett Backus. Briefed
Garrett on the potential release.
Called Susen Heiden 917-456-7869, left message.
Called Fish and Wildlife, and requested call-back regarding Hazardous Materials
Spill Report: Cal OES Control #:21-2335.
Received call from Amanda Johnson (OSPR CDFW) who reported:
- This was a search and rescue mission. They were able to pull boat driver out of
the water.
Boat was grounded and discharge was stopped. I asked how it was stopped.
Amanda reported that USCG had that "discharge was contained."
No boom was deployed as it was gasoline
- Approximately 30 gallons gasoline was reported to have been inside the boat's
fuel tank.
Tow Boat Salvage was to secure the boat this evening (5-2-2021) and will be
salvaging tomorrow morning.
She was not going to go out there because she is in San Fransisco and because
Tow Boat was going to secure vessel tonight and salvage in the morning.
Discussed with Garrett Backus.
Entered Narrative.
5105.rpt
