Anchor Strap Tensions using Tributary Volume
The anchor strap tensions are calculated based on an effective tributary volume for each strap. This
volume is calculated as half the distance to the adjacent strap on each side or to the end of the adjacent
end cap for the first and last straps . The tensile force resulting from the riser volumes are distributed to
the straps on each side of the riser based on the position of the riser.
If the total buoyant force resisted by the anchor pad or deadmen with water to grade is negative , each
buoyant tributary volume will still be calculated for each strap position. Depending on the size and
location of the manways , risers , and the strap locations , some straps may be under tension and some may
not as represented by positive and negative values respectively. Anegative strap tension indicates no
tension on that strap no matter the magnitude of the negative value .
Anchor Strap Tensions Excluding Risers with Water to Grade
End Cap Volume Volec = 1959 gal volume one end cap
Vol — 2 • Vol
tk ec ft cylinder volume per unit length
Cylinder Vol Volcyl per length = 6 . 520 • —
per Unit Length Ltk — 2 • Lec in
83
149
198
Strap Locations 284
from Left End of La = 367 in
Tank This vector is used later to
453 allocate the riser loads to the
502 straps, Two rows are added to
568 0 the strap location vector.
