WESTERN PUMP <br /> Petroleum & Lubrication Equipment Specialists <br /> If any unsafe conditions that are identified are out of the control of the company, SMART Safety <br /> Group, project manager, or superintendent shall notify the appropriate party of the unsafe condition . <br /> Inspection of Workplace by SMART Safety Group <br /> SMART Safety Group will conduct an inspection of the jobsite initially as required. Periodic <br /> inspections will be performed when new substances , processes , procedures or equipment presents <br /> potential new hazards or whenever workplace conditions warrant an inspection . An inspection will <br /> occur when new previously unidentified hazards are recognized and/or when we hire or reassign <br /> permanent or intermittent workers to processes , operations or tasks for which a hazard evaluation <br /> has not previously been conducted . The Safety Business Group will discuss the inspections and <br /> make recommendations to prevent hazards in the future. The inspection findings are to be <br /> documented on the Jobsite Audit form and filed by SMART Safety Group for a period of one year. <br /> Inspection of Equipment bV Operators <br /> Inspection of major equipment prior to its daily use is essential in identifying the potential hazards <br /> to both equipment and workers . The availability of equipment will be maximized through <br /> appropriate preventive maintenance inspections. Daily visual inspections are best performed by <br /> the operators. Any defects found on equipment shall be tagged identifying the hazard and returned <br /> to the shop for repair. <br /> Inspection of Equipment bV Shop Personnel <br /> Shop personnel are responsible for inspecting equipment and making necessary repairs <br /> or replacement prior to sending it back to the field . <br /> The periodic inspection of equipment is necessary to provide an efficient and safe jobsite. Regular <br /> inspection and proper preventive maintenance will provide adequate lead time to repair or replace <br /> worn components without delaying the project. <br /> Project Pre-Planning (P3) (*See forms section) <br /> The Management or Superintendent will identify and plan for any hazards or exposures that may <br /> occur during the course of construction . The Project Pre-Plan (appendix) shall be utilized in planning <br /> for the project and reviewed at the pre-job meeting with the project team . In addition to the P3 , a <br /> Job/Activity Hazard Analysis (appendix) may need to be conducted and review as well . The meeting <br /> shall review: <br /> Hazards involving members of the public and their property: <br /> • Vehicle traffic exposures -need for signs, barricades and flagmen <br /> Public pedestrians and children -need for temporary walkways , overhead protection , <br /> securing equipment and fencing <br /> Utilities (underground and overhead) —locating and marking , de-energizing or moving <br /> lines, shoring and blocking and special insurance <br /> The review shall also cover the need for protective equipment for the project.
