Site Specific Meteorological Conditions
Being located in the San Joaquin Valley in Central California, the MRF is subject
to the normal weather patterns for the area. Late spring to mid -fall is normally dry and
temperatures of over 100° f are not uncommon. Mid -fall to late spring is often rainy and
temperatures commonly drop into the mid 30's and occasionally below freezing.
The Tracy area is subject to prevailing westerly winds and is particularly affected
by relatively high wind sweeping over the foothills some 20 miles west of town. These
winds act to disperse odors and direct them toward the unoccupied areas east of the
facility.
In addition, the facility is surrounded by berms that are designed to withstand
flooding up to 100 year levels.
