5.4 Discussion of soil lithology as related to future onsite septic uses: The
Hicksville Loam, Pentz Sandy Loam and Pentz Bellota Complex have a permeability that is
moderately slow. The Pentz Sandy Loam and Pentz Bellota Complex have a permeability that is
moderately rapid.
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION SECTION
6.1 Site map showing the location, with concise and accurate dimensions of the percolation
test holes on the parcel: See Appendix.
6.2 The minimum number of shallow and deep percolation tests were performed for each
parcel: Three shallow percolation test holes were prepared on the subject Parcels.
6.3 Description of the date, time and protocol used to prepare the test hole, including
depth and dimensions of hole, preparation of hole, and depth of water used to presoak
(minimum 12 inches): The shallow test holes were excavated to a depth of 42 inches and 10
inches in diameter and backfilled with 2 inches of "pea gravel" in accordance with County
Standards. The shallow holes were prepared by Mike Toy of Dillon & Murphy on January 12,
2022 at 7:30 a.m. On January 13, 2022 at 7:30 a.m., the 24 hour presoak period was started. The
holes were filled with 12 inches of water over the gravel at this time.
6.4 Description of the date, time and condition of the test hole after the 24-hour soak period
(hole still intact, hole dry, preparation of hole, and depth of water used to presoak (minimum
12 inches): On January 14, 2022 at 7:30 a.m., the shallow test holes were dry. Six inches of water
was added to the holes and the holes were deemed suitable to continue. The shallow tests passed
the minimum County requirements.
6.5 The test conformed to SJC Policy EH 02-02 (correct depth, diameter, 2" gravel, 6" water
refill, correct readings recorded). The percolation tests conformed to San Joaquin County Policy
EHD 02-02.
6.6 Complete Percolation Test Form (including readings) was provided with REHS
verification signature. The rate was correctly calculated using the last reading. See Appendix
for Test Results Form.
Shallow Test(s)
TEST HOLE PERCOLATION RATE
Hl 50 Min/In
H2 42 Min/In
H3 50 Min/In
*See Results in Appendix.
6.7 Discussion of any potential problems predicted and/or the need for an engineered or
alternative septic system. In this area, the soils are classified as Hicksville Loam, Pentz Sandy Loam
and Pentz Bellota Complex. Due to this classification and percolation rate, a standard septic system
similar to the one found on other homesites in the area would be recommended on the proposed parcels.
3
