<br /> <br />SP 23 <br /> <br />Excavation and backfill for all sewers shall conform to County of San Joaquin Standards. <br />11‐3 EXECUTION <br />11‐3.01 GENERAL <br />Verify existing elevations prior to extensive excavating and notify the County of San Joaquin of any <br />discrepancies. Contractor shall be liable for any premature construction, which must be modified due to <br />unforeseen existing conditions. Verify location of point of connection (POC). <br />Install piping beginning at low point of systems, true to grades and alignment indicated with unbroken <br />continuity of invert. Place bell ends of piping facing upstream. <br />Provide all necessary fittings, fixtures, hardware, plates, fasteners, etc. to provide complete installation. <br />Use manholes for changes in direction or pipe size. <br />For sewer main location, alignment, cover, and size: Conform to County of San Joaquin Standards. <br />All installations shall be secure and watertight. <br />11‐3.02 INSTALLATION <br />Excavate pipe trench and place pipe zone bedding material in accordance with County of San Joaquin <br />Standards. <br />Pipe Bedding and Backfill: Per the requirements of the local jurisdiction or per County of San Joaquin <br />Standards. <br />Horizontal Separation, refer to County of San Joaquin Standards. <br />The bottom of the trench shall be graded and prepared to provide a firm and uniform bearing <br />throughout the entire length of the pipe barrel. <br />Install pipe, fittings, and accessories in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Seal joints <br />watertight. <br />The pipe shall be laid without break upgrade from structure to structure, with bell end upgrade for bell <br />and spigot pipe. <br />The horizontal alignment of the pipe shall be laid such that any point shall not vary more than 0.10 feet <br />from the design alignment. <br />Install pipe zone bedding material at sides and over top of pipe in accordance with County of San <br />Joaquin Standards. <br />Place trench zone backfill in accordance with County of San Joaquin Standards. Do not displace or <br />damage pipe when compacting. <br />11‐3.03 CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING <br />No new sewer line shall be connected to an existing sewer system until the new sewer lines are balled, <br />flushed, and satisfactorily tested. <br />11‐3.04 BRACING AND SHORING <br />As required by the Trench Construction Safety Orders of the California Construction Safety Orders of the <br />Division of Occupational Safety and Health, bracing and shoring shall be installed in trenches of five feet <br />or greater depth to insure the safety of workers and to protect and facilitate the work. <br />11‐3.05 TESTING SEWERS
