<br />GENERAL NOTES:
<br />1.PRIOR TO AND DURING CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR
<br />SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BEING FAMILIAR WITH THE
<br />CURRENT SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY STANDARDS AND ALL
<br />UPDATES AND REVISIONS MADE TO ANY OF THE SAN JOAQUIN
<br />COUNTY STANDARD DETAILS. THE CONTRACTOR IS ALSO
<br />RESPONSIBLE FOR BEING FAMILIAR WITH THE WRITTEN
<br />SPECIFICATIONS AND/OR OTHER STANDARD DETAILS NOT
<br />SHOWN BUT WHICH ARE INCLUDED IN THE "SAN JOAQUIN
<br />COUNTY STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS AND PLANS".
<br />2.DRAWING NUMBERS SHOWN ON THE PLANS REFER TO SAN
<br />JOAQUIN COUNTY STANDARD PLANS, SHOWN THUS: DWG. NO.
<br />3.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROTECTING
<br />FROM DAMAGE ALL EXISTING IMPROVEMENTS THAT ARE TO
<br />REMAIN. SUCH IMPROVEMENTS THAT ARE DAMAGED BY THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REPLACED AT HIS EXPENSE.
<br />4.ALL TRENCH EXCAVATION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
<br />SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY STANDARD SPECIFICATION 2-5.0.
<br />5.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DEMOLISH, EXCAVATE, REMOVE
<br />AND DISPOSE OF ALL EXISTING CONCRETE CURB, GUTTER OR
<br />SIDEWALK, ASPHALT CONCRETE PAVING, AND DELETERIOUS
<br />MATERIAL AS REQUIRED TO CONSTRUCT THE CONTRACT
<br />WORK. ALL SUCH EXCESS MATERIAL GENERATED SHALL BE
<br />DISPOSED OF FROM THE SITE BY THE CONTRACTOR.
<br />6.EXISTING UTILITIES ARE SHOWN AS THEY ARE BELIEVED TO
<br />EXIST. OTHER UNDERGROUND UTILITIES SUCH AS
<br />ELECTRICAL, GAS, PHONE AND ETC. MAY EXIST WITHIN AND
<br />ADJACENT TO THE PROJECT AREA. THE OWNER AND THE
<br />ENGINEER DO NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR
<br />ACCURACY. PRIOR TO COMMENCING ANY WORK, THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE EACH UTILITY COMPANY
<br />ACCURATELY LOCATE IN THE FIELD THEIR MAINS AND
<br />SERVICE LINES. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S
<br />RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT ALL EXISTING UTILITIES. THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY MEMBERS OF THE
<br />UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT (U.S.A.) 48 HOURS IN
<br />ADVANCE OF PERFORMING EXCAVATION WORK BY CALLING
<br />THE TOLL-FREE NUMBER (1-800-227-2600). IT SHALL BE
<br />CONTRACTOR'S SOLE RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT ALL
<br />EXISTING UTILITIES SO THAT NO DAMAGE RESULTS TO THEM
<br />DURING THE PERFORMANCE OF HIS CONTRACT. THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REQUIRED TO COOPERATE WITH
<br />OTHER CONTRACTORS AND UTILITY COMPANIES INSTALLING
<br />NEW STRUCTURES, UTILITIES AND SERVICES TO THE
<br />DEVELOPMENT.
<br />7.ATTENTION IS CALLED TO: SECTION 1540 (A) (1) OF THE
<br />CONSTRUCTION SAFETY ORDERS (TITLE 8 CALIFORNIA
<br />ADMINISTRATION CODE SECTION 1540), ISSUED BY THE
<br />OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARDS BOARD
<br />PURSUANT TO THE CALIFORNIA OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
<br />HEALTH ACT OF 1973, AS AMENDED, WHICH STATES: "PRIOR
<br />TO OPENING AN EXCAVATION, EFFORT SHALL BE MADE TO
<br />DETERMINE WHETHER UNDERGROUND INSTALLATION I.E.,
<br />SEWER, WATER, FUEL, ELECTRIC LINES, ETC., WILL BE
<br />ENCOUNTERED AND, IF SO, WHERE SUCH UNDERGROUND
<br />INSTALLATIONS ARE LOCATED. WHEN THE EXCAVATION
<br />APPROACHES THE APPROXIMATE LOCATION OF SUCH AN
<br />INSTALLATION, THE EXACT LOCATION SHALL BE DETERMINED
<br />BY CAREFUL PROBING OR HAND DIGGING AND WHEN IT IS
<br />UNCOVERED, ADEQUATE PROTECTION SHALL BE PROVIDED
<br />FOR THE EXISTING INSTALLATION. ALL KNOWN OWNERS OF
<br />UNDERGROUND FACILITIES IN THE AREA CONCERNED SHALL
<br />BE ADVISED OF PROPOSED WORK AT LEAST 48 HOURS PRIOR
<br />TO THE START OF ACTUAL EXCAVATION."
<br />8.WHENEVER EXISTING PAVEMENT IS BROKEN OR CUT DURING
<br />THE INSTALLATION OF THE WORK COVERED BY THESE PLANS
<br />AND SPECIFICATIONS, THE PAVEMENT SHALL BE REPLACED,
<br />AFTER PROPER BACK FILLING, WITH PAVEMENT MATERIALS
<br />EQUAL TO OR BETTER THAN THE MATERIALS USED IN THE
<br />ORIGINAL PAVING. THE FINISHED PAVEMENT SHALL BE
<br />SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE OWNER'S
<br />REPRESENTATIVE.
<br />9.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EXPOSE EXISTING STORM DRAINS
<br />AND SANITARY SEWERS WHERE CONNECTIONS ARE TO BE
<br />MADE SO EXISTING FLOWLINES AND LOCATIONS CAN BE
<br />VERIFIED BEFORE THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.
<br />10.THE CONTRACTOR AGREES THAT HE SHALL ASSUME SOLE
<br />AND COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY FOR JOBSITE CONDITIONS
<br />DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT
<br />INCLUDING SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY, THAT
<br />THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL APPLY CONTINUOUSLY AND NOT
<br />BE LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING HOURS.
<br />11."CLASS A SUBGRADE" SHALL BE GRADED TO RELATIVE
<br />COMPACTION OF 95% TO A DEPTH OF SIX INCHES.
<br />CONTRACTORS NOTES:
<br />1.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL LIGHTS, BARRICADES,
<br />SIGNS, FLAGMEN OR OTHER DEVICES NECESSARY FOR
<br />PUBLIC SAFETY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CURRENT ISSUE
<br />OF THE "CALIFORNIA MANUAL OF UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL
<br />DEVICES".
<br />2.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY
<br />FIELD CHANGES MADE WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN
<br />AUTHORIZATION FROM THE OWNER AND THE ENGINEER.
<br />3.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A NEATLY MARKED SET
<br />OF FULL-SIZE AS-BUILT RECORD DRAWINGS SHOWING THE
<br />FINAL LOCATION AND LAYOUT OF ALL MECHANICAL;
<br />ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENTATION EQUIPMENT PIPING AND
<br />CONDUITS; STRUCTURES AND OTHER FACILITIES. THE
<br />AS-BUILTS OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHALL INCLUDE THE
<br />STREET LIGHT LAYOUT PLAN SHOWING LOCATION OF LIGHTS,
<br />CONDUITS, CONDUCTORS, POINTS OF CONNECTIONS TO
<br />SERVICES, PULLBOXES, AND WIRE SIZES. AS-BUILT RECORD
<br />DRAWINGS SHALL REFLECT CHANGE ORDERS,
<br />ACCOMMODATIONS, AND ADJUSTMENTS TO ALL
<br />IMPROVEMENTS CONSTRUCTED. WHERE NECESSARY,
<br />SUPPLEMENTAL DRAWINGS SHALL BE PREPARED AND
<br />SUBMITTED BY THE CONTRACTOR.
<br />4.PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE, OF THE PROJECT, THE CONTRACTOR
<br />SHALL DELIVER TO THE ENGINEER, ONE SET OF NEATLY
<br />MARKED AS-BUILT RECORD DRAWINGS SHOWING THE
<br />INFORMATION REQUIRED ABOVE. AS-BUILT RECORD
<br />DRAWINGS SHALL BE REVIEWED AND THE COMPLETE
<br />AS-BUILT RECORD DRAWING SET SHALL BE CURRENT WITH
<br />ALL CHANGES AND DEVIATIONS REDLINED AS A
<br />PRECONDITION TO THE FINAL PROGRESS PAYMENT
<br />APPROVAL AND/OR FINAL ACCEPTANCE.
<br />5.IF CONTRACTOR DISTURBS ANY PROPERTY CORNERS OR
<br />CENTERLINE MONUMENTS DURING THE DEMOLITION OR
<br />CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROJECT, THE CONTRACTOR MUST
<br />HIRE A REGISTERED LAND SURVEYOR TO RESET THE
<br />MONUMENT PER THE PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYORS ACT
<br />SECTION 8771.
<br />6.CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY ALL SIZES, ELEVATIONS,
<br />FLOW DIRECTION, AND PROXIMITY OF UNDERGROUND
<br />UTILITIES PRIOR TO COMMENCING PIPE REPLACEMENT
<br />CONSTRUCTION. CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT ENGINEER IF
<br />ANY DISCREPANCIES ARE FOUND IN FIELD PRIOR TO
<br />COMMENCING WORK.
<br />7.PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION THE CONTRACTOR
<br />SHALL VIDEO RECORD THE EXISTING CONDITIONS TO
<br />DETERMINE ANY POTENTIAL CONFLICTS SUCH AS PIPE
<br />CROSSINGS, PIPE CONFLICTS, SERVICE LATERALS OR
<br />NEARBY UTILITIES THAT MAY INTERFERE WITH THE PIPE
<br />TRENCHING AND REPLACEMENT PROCESS. ONCE
<br />CONSTRUCTION IS FINISHED PROVIDE SJC GENERAL
<br />SERVICES WITH THE PIPE VIDEO.
<br />8.CONTRACTOR SHALL REPLACE ANY ITEMS IN KIND THAT ARE
<br />DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION.
<br />9.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN
<br />EXPOSING EXISTING UTILITY CROSSING AND SERVICES.
<br />10.CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL
<br />LOCATIONS OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES.
<br />11.CONTRACTOR SHALL USE NON-SKID PLATES TO COVER OPEN
<br />TRENCHES. PLATES TO BE PINNED PER SPECIFICATIONS.
<br />12.IF THE CONTRACTOR CUTS THE LID OF ANY SANITARY SEWER
<br />MAINTENANCE STRUCTURE FOR ACCESS, THE CONTRACTOR
<br />SHALL REPLACE THE LID IN KIND.
<br />13.AT LEAST 1 MONTH PRIOR TO WORKING IN PUBLIC UTILITY
<br />EASEMENT AREAS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE
<br />WITH AFFECTED PROPERTY OWNERS TO REQUEST AND
<br />OBTAIN ACCESS TO EASEMENT FOR EQUIPMENT AND
<br />WORKERS AS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE WORK.
<br />SURFACE IMPROVEMENTS NOTES:
<br />1.SEWER LINE TRENCH CONSTRUCTION AND RESURFACING SHALL
<br />BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY STANDARD
<br />DWG. NO. R-29.
<br />NPDES NOTES:
<br />1.DUST CONTROL SHALL BE PROVIDED AT ALL TIMES, AT THE
<br />CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE, TO MINIMIZE ANY DUST NUISANCE
<br />AND SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 10 OF
<br />CALTRANS STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS AND THE
<br />REQUIREMENTS OF THE COUNTY OF SAN JOAQUIN.
<br />2.ANY AND ALL SEDIMENT AND/OR EROSION CONTROL DETAILS
<br />CONTAINED WITHIN THESE PLANS ARE TO BE CONSIDERED AS
<br />"REFERENCE DETAILS" ONLY AND THE COUNTY'S APPROVAL
<br />OF THESE PLANS AND "REFERENCE DETAILS" DOES NOT
<br />RELIEVE THE OWNER FROM COMPLIANCE WITH THE STORM
<br />WATER POLLUTION PREVENTION PLAN (SWPPP) AS APPROVED
<br />BY THE COUNTY'S STORMWATER DIVISION.
<br />3.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH, INSTALL, OPERATE AND
<br />MAINTAIN ALL EXCAVATIONS FREE FROM WATER DURING
<br />CONSTRUCTION, AND SHALL DEWATER AND DISPOSE OF THE
<br />WATER SO AS TO NOT CAUSE INJURY TO PUBLIC OR PRIVATE
<br />PROPERTY OR TO CAUSE A NUISANCE OR MENACE TO THE
<br />PUBLIC. THE DEWATERING SYSTEM SHALL BE INSTALLED AND
<br />OPERATED SO THE GROUNDWATER LEVEL OUTSIDE THE
<br />EXCAVATION IS NOT REDUCED TO THE EXTENT WHICH WOULD
<br />CAUSE DAMAGE OR ENDANGER ADJACENT STRUCTURES OR
<br />PROPERTY. ALL COSTS FOR DEWATERING SHALL BE
<br />INCLUDED IN THE UNIT PRICE BID FOR ALL PIPE
<br />CONSTRUCTION. THE STATIC WATER LEVEL SHALL BE DRAWN
<br />DOWN A MINIMUM OF 1 FOOT BELOW THE BOTTOM OF
<br />EXCAVATION TO MAINTAIN THE UNDISTURBED STATE OF
<br />NATURAL SOILS AND ALLOW THE PLACEMENT OF ANY FILL TO
<br />SPECIFIED DENSITY. DISPOSAL OF WATER SHALL BE IN
<br />ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPROVED SWPPP AND SHALL NOT
<br />DAMAGE PROPERTY, CREATE NUISANCE OR VIOLATE THE
<br />LAW. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE WORKMEN AVAILABLE
<br />FOR ITS OPERATION. THE DEWATERING SYSTEM SHALL
<br />OPERATE CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL BACKFILL HAS BEEN
<br />COMPLETED TO 1 FOOT ABOVE. THE NORMAL STATIC
<br />GROUNDWATER LEVEL.
<br />4.LOCATION OF SAW CUTTING SHALL BE DETERMINED IN THE
<br />FIELD WITH THE COUNTY INSPECTOR. IF THE EXISTING
<br />SECTION REQUIRES GRINDING OR OVERLAYING OF AC, IT
<br />SHALL BE DETERMINED IN THE FIELD WITH THE COUNTY
<br />INSPECTOR.
<br />5.INSERTION OF THE NEW PIPE, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
<br />EXPEDITE THE RECONNECTION OF SERVICES SO AS TO
<br />MINIMIZE ANY INCONVENIENCE TO THE CUSTOMERS.
<br />BY-PASS PUMPING NOTES:
<br />1.IF A BYPASS PUMP PLAN IS REQUIRED BY THE COUNTY. THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PLAN. tHE BYPASS
<br />PUMP PLAN SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE COUNTY NO LESS
<br />THAN 72 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF BYPASS PUMPING AND SHALL
<br />BE APPROVED BY THE COUNTY PRIOR TO BYPASS PUMPING.
<br />THE CONTRACTOR, WHEN AND WHERE REQUIRED, SHALL
<br />PROVIDE DIVERSION FOR THE PIPE REPLACEMENT PROCESS.
<br />THE PUMPS AND BY-PASS LINES SHALL BE OF ADEQUATE
<br />CAPACITY AND SIZE TO HANDLE ALL FLOWS.
<br />2.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTINUITY
<br />OF SANITARY SEWER SERVICE TO EACH FACILITY CONNECTED
<br />TO THE SECTION OF SEWER DURING THE EXECUTION OF THE
<br />WORK.
<br />3.IF SEWAGE BACKUP OCCURS AND ENTERS BUILDINGS, THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEAN-UP,
<br />REPAIR, PROPERTY DAMAGE COST AND CLAIMS.
<br />5.THE DESIGN, INSTALLATION, AND OPERATION OF THE
<br />TEMPORARY BYPASS PUMPING SYSTEM SHALL BE THE
<br />CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY.
<br />6.CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL LABOR, EQUIPMENT,
<br />SUPERVISION, AND MATERIALS NECESSARY TO
<br />REDUCE/CONTROL FLOWS VIA SEWAGE FLOW MECHANISMS
<br />OR ELIMINATE FLOWS VIA BYPASS PUMPING THROUGH A
<br />SECTION OR SECTIONS OF PIPE DESIGNATED FOR
<br />INSPECTION AND/OR REHABILITATION. ALL SEWER BYPASS
<br />SHALL BE PROVIDED AT CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE.
<br />7.CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTROLLING
<br />AND MAINTAINING ALL FLOWS WITHIN THE SEWER SYSTEM
<br />DURING WORK. CONTRACTOR MAY DRAIN FLOWS BY PIPE
<br />CHASES, FLUMING, BYPASS PUMPING, OR OTHER
<br />APPROPRIATE METHODS APPROVED BY THE OWNER AND
<br />ENGINEER.
<br />8.PLUGGING OF ANY SEWER LINE WITHOUT BYPASSING SHALL
<br />NOT BE PERMITTED.
<br />9.PRECAUTIONS SHALL BE TAKEN TO ENSURE THAT FLOW
<br />CONTROL AND DEWATERING OPERATIONS SHALL NOT CAUSE
<br />FLOODING OR DAMAGE TO PUBLIC OR PRIVATE PROPERTIES.
<br />IN THE EVENT FLOODING OR DAMAGE OCCURS, CONTRACTOR
<br />SHALL MAKE PROVISIONS TO CORRECT SUCH DAMAGE AT NO
<br />ADDITIONAL COST TO OWNER.
<br />10.CONTRACTOR SHALL PLAN AND EXECUTE BYPASS PUMPING
<br />SUCH THAT NO SEWER SERVICES ARE INTERRUPTED OR
<br />AFFECTED IN ANY WAY. NO INTERRUPTION OR LOSS OF
<br />SEWER SERVICE IS ACCEPTABLE.
<br />11.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN ADEQUATE
<br />PUMPING EQUIPMENT, FORCE MAINS, AND OTHER
<br />NECESSARY APPURTENANCES IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN
<br />RELIABLE SANITARY SEWER SERVICE IN ALL SANITARY SEWER
<br />LINES WITH THE POTENTIAL TO BE AFFECTED BY THE WORK.
<br />CONTRACTOR TO HAVE BACKUP PUMPS AND
<br />APPURTENANCES ON-SITE READY TO DEPLOY IMMEDIATELY.
<br />12.ALL PIPING, JOINTS, AND ACCESSORIES SHALL BE DESIGNED
<br />TO WITHSTAND AT LEAST TWICE THE MAXIMUM SYSTEM
<br />PRESSURE, OR A MINIMUM OF 50 PSI, WHICHEVER IS
<br />GREATER.
