However, if severe <br /> corrosion situation is anticipated, integrity testing shall be performed every 5 years as 3 <br /> follows: <br /> 1. Hydrostatic testing E) <br /> 2. Non-destructive testing of tank shell thickness <br /> 3. Visual inspection of: <br /> a. Tanks for presence of water in lowest portions of the tank(bacteria in water can <br /> cause corrasion),exterior surface for signs of deterioration,All pipe connections > <br /> to tank for evidence of leakage,and Operating vents and emergency vents. 3 <br /> b. Secondary containment,if present,for integrity and damage and accumulation of < <br /> petroleum inside secondary containment. 7 <br /> Integrity testing guidance and requirements are stipulated in the following standards which <br /> are related to aboveground tanks. The integrity testing shall follow: Steel Tank Institute <br /> (STI) Standard SP001-00 entitled "Standard for Inspection of In-service Shop Fabricated <br /> Aboveground Tanks for Storage of Combustible and Flammable Liquids'. ' <br /> a. Ten(10)year certified inspection(5 year in case of severe corrosion), by a Qualified <br /> Tank Inspector. A Qualified Tank Inspector that has been trained and certified by STI <br /> per the requirements of the STI Standard "AST Inspector Qualification Procedure"; <br /> and/or is Authorized Inspector per certification and other requirements of the <br /> American Petroleum Institute (API) Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) Authorized <br /> Inspector program.Certified inspection will include: <br /> - Static pressure testing of the tank for tightness <br /> - Visual inspection of tank interior, if possible, and for corrosion, pitting and/or <br /> presence of water in the tank <br /> - Ultrasonic testing of tank for tank wall thickness <br /> - Determination of condition of bottom of tank;especially,if a flat bottom <br /> b.
