Elena K. [EHD] <emanzo@sjgov.org>
Subject: [EXTERNAL] Simplot -4863 Carpenter Rd - Roundup Spill - C00053079
Importance: High
[Warning: External Email]
Hi John,
As we discussed earlier today, you will have a lab analyze the three confirmation soil samples that were taken today, in
order to determine if the soil is contaminated from the Roundup spill, prior to backfill. Photos of the spill and sampling
areas are attached.
Submit the sample analytical once you obtain it.
Regarding the excavated soil, our inspector Jason Gaitan spoke to Robert Pelletier, Deputy Agricultural Commissioner,
regarding the spill. Robert stated that he discussed the spill with his pesticide inspector and both determined that they
would not approve the resale of soil impacted with Roundup to farmers. Robert Pelletier's contact information is
attached.
Confirm how the excavated soil, as well as the powder and pad absorbents used to clean-up the spill, will be managed.
Submit a hazardous waste determination for all waste generated as a result of this spill clean-up.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thank you,
Elianna Florido, REHS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Registered Environmental Health Specialist
1868 East Hazelton Ave
Stockton, CA 95205
P: (209) 468-3420 I F: (209) 468-3433 I E: eflorido@sjgov.org
SAN,JOAOUIN
4
