The tank was moved about 100 ft toward the middle of the property. The
employee states they had the tank drained and the nozzle removed. They also said the soil was not touched.
I also have concern about the remaining tanks, I feel they do not meet minimum standards for outdoor tank storage
according to NFPA 30.
In addition they are improperly marked with a DOT placard for hazard classification. I was informed by an
employee that the tanks are Diesel and Gasoline. According to California DOT, the tanks should be labeled DOT 1993 for
a class 2 combustible for diesel and DOT 1203 for a class 3 flammable for gasoline. I observed a DOT number of 1268
which is a class 3 flammable on one of the tanks.
I estimated the largest tank above 1200 gal and feel it doesn't meet minimum distances from the property line. The
tanks were approximately 3 feet from a chain-link fence which appears to be the property line. According to NFPA 30
section 22.4.1.1 the minimum distance for tanks above 1200 gal would be 20ft. It also appears, it does not meet thermal
protection or vehicle barrier protection. There are other hazardous materials leaking to the ground.
Car Batteries acid
Gear oil
I had to send the video on a different email
Marvin Mears
Deputy Fire Marshal
P: 209-941-5110
Fax: 209-941-5115
mmears@Innfire.org
19001 Somerston Parkway
Lathrop, CA 95330
1
