To: Hernandez Zavala, Joshua [GSD] <ihernandezzavala@sigov.org>; EH WellandSepticPermits [EHD]
<ehweIlan dsepticpermits@sigov.org>
Cc: Johnson, Robert [GSD] <robertiohnson@sigov.org>; Hernandez, James [GSD] <ighernandez@sigov.org>
Subject: RE: BP-2104339—PERMIT EHD Application - SJC Micke Grove Regional Park Delta Shelter Septic Upgrades Project
Joshua,
The proposed septic system is undersized. The requirement is the equivalent to 1,175 feet of leach line. The proposed
permit is for 1,068 feet, using the 80 feet of leach line.
6 x 80 = 480 feet of leach line and 12 x 49 = 588 linear feet equivalent of pits. When resubmitting the permit, do not
provide ranges for the lengths, the length of the line will have to be specific and the linear equivalent must be equal to
or greater than 1,175 feet. A 36" pit is equivalent to 49' of leach line.
The permit application indicates three tanks but the site plan shows 2 tanks. Since the permit application indicates three
tanks, three tanks would need to be placed.
The design of the system has perforated pipe between the two pits at the end of the leach lines, this line has to be solid
line. There are other details that are missing. If the contractor is familiar with San Joaquin County Standards then they
will know what to do, if they aren't familiar with county standards there may have to be work to redo the leach lines
once the inspector verifies the work.
The permit indicates the system is an engineered designed/alternative system, meaning that it does not conform to
county standards or is mitigating something not possible with a standard system. If the system is to be an engineered
designed/alternative system there is an additional review process from EHD to assess the system. A service request form
needs to be submitted along with a fee of $304.
Looking at the area where the system is proposed, there seems to be a parking lot in the area and just wanted to
confirm that the leach lines will not be driven over or be covered by asphalt or concrete.
Are there any wells in the area. If so, how far will they be from the proposed septic system?
Thank you,
Cesar Ruvalcaba
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Lead Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist
1868 East Hazelton Ave
Stockton, CA 95205
W (209) 953-6213 J1 i,. cruvalcaba@sigov.org
SAN ,IOAQUIN
