INVESTIGATION:
On January 3, 2020, the San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner's Office received a
Pesticide Incident Report for Lina Sanany (Ms. Sanany) from the California Department of
Pesticide Regulation's Worker Health and Safety Branch via CalPEATS. The Pesticide Incident
Report (Exhibit 1) recorded on January 3, 2020, stated Ms. Sanany shortness of breath and
coughing while cleaning her personal restroom. Angelica Goehring (Biologist Goehring), San
Joaquin County Agricultural Biologist/Standards Inspector was originally assigned to the
investigation.
On January 15, 2020, I, Danalynn Galvin, San Joaquin County Agricultural Biologist/Standards
Inspector was reassigned to the investigation with the help of Jana Labrucherie (Biologist
Labrucherie), San Joaquin County Agricultural Biologist/Standards Inspector.
On March 2, 2020, at 3:08pm, Biologist Labrucherie and I contacted Ms. Sanany via phone. Ms.
Sanany stated in summary:
I was cleaning the bathroom in my residence when I accidently mixed Clorox and Lysol.
I developed shortness of breath and a cough upon irnhaling the mixture. I don't know actual
name of the products or any EPA Registration Numbers as I have discarded the products.
We informed Ms. Sanany to read and follow the labels carefully in the future as the labels will
give specific information on precautions to take and personal protective equipment to wear.
On March 3, 2020 at 4:50pm, Biologist Labrucherie emailed a home use pesticide safety handout
to Ms. Sanany's personal email address (Exhibit 2).
FINDINGS:
On January 3, 2020, the San Joaquin County Agricultural Conunissioner's Office received a
Worker Health and Safety Investigation (WHS 2020-0012) from the Department of Pesticide
Regulation Worker Health and Safety Branch. Lina Sanany inhaled a mixture of Clorox and Lysol
while cleaning the bathroom at her personal residence.
