URS so
Mr. Bob Hartzell
Harmony Wyneland
9291 East Harney Road
Lodi, CA 95240
RE: Letter Report
Noise Survey Data
Dear Mr. Hartzell:
In response from a request by Harmony Wyneland, URS/Dames & Moore conducted
several noise-level data collection and sampling events in conjunction with activities held
at the facilities. It should be noted that sampling occurred during normal daily activities
and during weekends when the facilities held reception/wedding events and functions,
priinarily between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. The numerical results of our
surveys are included as an attachment to the text of this letter report.
The data was collected using two types of noise dosimeters: a Quest M-27 and a Quest
Micro-15. Both of these instruments meet ANSI S1.4-1983 Type 2, ANSI 51.25-1978
and IEC 651 Type 2A specifications and were calibrated by use of the factory supplied
external calibrator prior to use in the field. Each unit was set for reading Community
Noise Equivalency Levels (CNEL) as follows: "A"weighting, 30-126 dB range, 90 dB
Upper limit, Slow time constant, 85 dB Criterion, 3dB exchange rate, and 24 hour clock.
The Quest Electronics M-27 noise logging dosimeter was used for accumulating data for
set periods of time. The Quest M-27 noise logging dosimeter is a microcomputer-based
sound analyzing instrument for accumulating, displaying and sending data to a printer or
computer. The M-27 was used as an area monitor for the survey events to accumulate
various time ranges of data. The Micro-15 was use primarily as a hand-held unit capable
of reading immediate sound pressure levels at various locations around the property.
The M-27 was used on Saturday,June 3, 2000, starting at 4:30 a.m. and ending at 10:38
p.m. to obtain a full day worth of data. This sampling event included the daily activity of
the facilities as well as a scheduled function, which took place between 6:00 p.m. and
10:00 p.m. The M-27 was used again on June 15 and 16, 2000, from 5:00 p.m. on
Thursday to 6:00 p.m. on Friday to get data that was related to the daily activities of the
facilities to serve as background or"normal"ambient level. In an effort to correlate the
noise impact of an actual event the M-27 was again used on Saturday July 1, 2000
between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. The M-27 dosimeter was placed at the
northeast boundary of the facilities property at a height of approximately 6-feet orientated
about 70° horizontally. This location was directly adjacent to the gravel driveway and
approximately 420 feet northeast from the primary source location. The meter location
adjacent to the gravel driveway should be noted as it can be concluded that traffic noise
attributed to some of the data acquired. The Micro-15 was used during the sampling
URS Corporation
3445 West Shaw Avenue, Suite 101
Fresno, CA 93711
Tel: 559.271.1093
Fax: 559.271.1379
