The applicable CASQA BMP fact sheets are included in Appendix G.
SECTION 3 - BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES

SECTION 3.1 - SCHEDULE FOR BMP IMPLEMENTATION

The contractor shall include specific BMP implementation within the project schedule. Generally,
BMPs in areas to remain undisturbed throughout construction (such as sediment filters and burlap
bags at existing inlets and perimeter erosion control) should be implemented prior to mass grading.
BMPs for new storm drain should be implemented shortly after installation. Any mass graded areas
to remain exposed for significant lengths of time during construction should be stabilized using
hydroseed and/or covered.
The BMP implementation schedule shall be posted in the job trailer with the overall project
schedule and included in this SWPPP in Appendix F for reference. See CASQA Fact Sheet EC-1
located in Appendix G for more information.
SECTION 3.2 - EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL

Erosion control is any source control practice that protects the soil surface and prevents oil particles
from being detached by rainfall, flowing water, or wind. Erosion control measures are retroactive
BMPs designed to stabilize the soil. They are implemented immediately following a construction
operation(s) that exposes soil or decrease the stability of the soil.
Sediment control is any practice that traps soil particles after they have been detached and moved by
rain, flowing water, or wind. Sediment control measures are preventive BMPs designed to retain soil
or sediment from leaving the site and/or entering the storm drain. They are usually implemented
prior to construction operations that disturb the soil.
The following are primary erosion control measures that may apply to this project and are to be
implemented if needed as determined by the Erosion Control Plan, QSD, QSP or contractor.
