LEAK DETECTION
1 E C H N 0 L 0 6 1 E S LLC
Exclusive Providers for MDleak® and PHDleak® Technologies
1400 East Paseo Pavon • Tucson,AZ 85718 • Phone 855-255-5325 • FAX: 520.990.8965
Sales@LeakDetect.net • www.LeakDetect.net
4. Small leaks are best left to LDT crews to pinpoint and have repaired, instead of the
contractor spending hours looking for little leaks.
5. Fast identification and leak location substantially reduces repair cost.
General:
1. Extraction plugs should be installed and sealed properly
2. A construction crew shall be onsite during the test period. This crew should be equipped to
repair any portion of the system.
3. The MDleak® method can test piping containing liquids. However if a liquid is present
additional time and cost will be incurred.
Product Piping:
1. The contractor shall have all shear valves plug or capped using steel not plastic fittings and
connected to the piping.
2. It is best to complete the turbine connections before the Pretest. Locating and repairing
fittings within the tank sumps during the pretesting is more efficient and less confining than
during the final testing.
3. Primary piping should be under test pressure when LDT arrives onsite.
Secondary Piping and Connections:
1. MDleak®- does not require special fittings to be installed by the contractor.
2. The contractor should use standard approved factory secondary termination fittings or
boots.
3. Secondary piping should be under test pressure when LDT arrives onsite.
4. All termination secondary fittings shall include test ports. Test ports shall be accessible to
the LDT Technician.
Vent Piping:
1. Extraction plugs should be installed and sealed properly
2. Vent risers should not be caped and the contractor should be capable of working on the top
of the vent risers.
VR Piping:
1. Extraction plugs should be installed and sealed properly
2. VR piping at the UDC should also be caped or plug using steel not plastic fittings.
Author David Rabb 2of 2
