OFFICE OF
SHERIFF-CORONER
COUNTY OF SAN JOAQUIN
P.O.Box 201058,Stockton,CA 95201
a (209)468-4400
Y
BaxDunn May 11 19 9 2
ter +
Sheriff-Coroner
TO: Chandler T. Martin VwJ1%
FROM: Deputy P. Burnett '
SUBJECT: SU-92-9
This development is located in Sheriff's Patrol area #1. Patrol area
X11 is the area bounded on the north by Sacramento County line, on the
south by Eight Mile Road, on the east by Highway 99 and on the west
by the San Joaquin River. This area is primarily used for agriculture
and consequently we are able to provide only a rural level of police
service to the population within it.
A recent study of Sheriff's Patrol Division revealed that we are able
to field only an average of .66 deputies per shift in District 1. The
same study showed that our response time for service, one indicator of
the quality of police service, is 15.07 minutes in area X11. If the
development is allowed to proceed without a corresponding increase in
Sheriffs resources then response time will increase in this district
and the qualites of service will decline.
It is recommended that a mechanism be created to fund additional
Sheriffs resources so that we can keep pace with development.
In addition, the following Crime Prevention concepts should be
incorporated into the design of this project.
