In addition to planned
verification soil sampling for a full suite of laboratory analyses on 100 -foot centers below the
area of capped wastes, the referenced EMMP included collection of a substantial number of
additional verification soil samples (on 50 -foot centers) for analysis for arsenic and lead The
additional verification soil samples for arsenic and lead analysis were required by the Central
Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB), in part due to the past detection of
elevated arsenic in gab groundwater samples beneath the northeasterly portion of the capped
waste area.
Subsequent to preparation of the EMMP and approval by the involved agencies, the CVRWQCB
has indicated that it would be acceptable and appropriate to reduce the number of verification
soil samples tested for arsenic and lead beneath the capped waste area (particularly within the
westerly and southerly portions of this area). Based on recent discussions with the CVRWQCB,
we have prepared the attached Revised Site Map depicting the revised verification sampling
program. As shown, 18 of the previously planned verification soil samples for arsenic and lead
will be collected and submitted to the laboratory but will not be analyzed unless the results of
testing of the other verification soil samples indicate concentrations of arsenic or lead above the
screening levels outlined in the EMMP.
' Brusca Associates, Inc.; "Excavation and Material Management Plan, Murphy Parkway Property, APN 198-012-
009,17100 Murphy Parkway, Lathrop, San Joaquin County, California'; March 9, 2018.
BruscaAssociates.com • P.O.
