Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
Two septic systems are currently located on the Site (Plate 2).
Proposed Septic System
Mr. Cervantes plans to build a new septic system for the new residence.
On -Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were
searched for the Site address. Two septic permits were identified:
• May 1980 permit for new residential septic system. The system utilized three 60 -
foot leach lines and three 33 -inch diameter by 25 -foot deep seepage pits.
• June 2019 permit for repair to residential septic system. Two 40 -foot leach lines
and four 36 -inch diameter by 25 -foot deep seepage pits were added to the
existing system.
These permits have been included in Appendix 4 of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery
from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have
one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 85 septic systems per
square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The Site is located within a mixed rural residential and agricultural area. Outside of the
residential neighborhood, many of the surrounding properties are orchards. A packing
and cold storage facility is located approximately 500 feet southwest of the Site.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the area utilize leach
lines with 25 -foot deep seepage pits, though one permit indicated leach lines only. The
septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report.
LOGE 2211 Page 2
