XERXES
BY SHAWCOR
July 14, 2021
Andrew Rotter Cc: Becky Egan
E-mail: arotter@shieldsharper.com
Re: One 10-foot-diameter 30,000-gallon Double-Wall Tank (wet interstice)
One 10-foot-diameter 15k x 15k-gallon Double-Wall MCT (wet interstice)
Buoyancy Calc— Safeway #0055 Mountain House
Dear Andrew:
We have summarized the buoyancy data you requested. All of the calculations are
based on the site data you have provided to us and on nominal engineering values
for the physical parameters.
All of the calculations are based on standard engineering practice. We use
approaches in a manner similar to the protocols presented in the PEI/RP 100-17
manual to calculate the underground tank Buoyancy Safety Factors.
It is the tank owner's responsibility to determine the suitability and applicability of
installation. Our sole responsibility in any installation is as stated in our Limited
Warranty.
Our calculations show that, given the installation parameters that you have provided
to us (calculated with the tank empty, burial depth of 6 feet, the water table at the
same elevation as the finished grade, and anchored with factory-supplied deadmen)
the Buoyancy Safety Factors are as follows:
Tank Buoyancy Safety Factor
30,000-gallon Double-Wall Tank 1.66:1
15k x 15k-gallon Double-Wall MCT 1.61:1
We recommend a minimum Buoyancy Safety Factor of 1.20:1. I have included
copies of the worksheets for your files.
If we can be of additional assistance, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
FESS/10AN
Tejlnder Singh
Applications Engineer ,tiT, Reviewed&Digitally signed:
w NoCC: . 61054 z 07/19/2021
Yatai Consultants,inc.
Attachment - 2 Q 27758 Santa Margarita Pkwy#238,
-4T C/VI\- Mission Viejo,CA 92691
Tel:949-468-9702
7901 Xerxes Avenue South • Minneapolis • Minnesota • United States•55431-1288
Ph: 952-887-1890 • Fax: 952-887-1870•Web: www.xerxes.com
