KLEINFELDER
SOIL SUITABILITY AND NITRATE LOADING STUDY
MICKE GROVE PARK EXPANSION
r
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
1. GENERAL
Kleinfelder is pleased to present the results of our soil suitability and nitrate loading
study for the proposed Micke Grove Park Expansion project in San Joaquin County,
California. The Assessor's Parcel Number of the property is 059-100-02. An aerial
photograph showing the approximate site boundaries is presented on Plate 1. The
purpose of our study was to determine the suitability of the property for septic tank
f usage. The study was performed in general accordance to the requirements of
Section 9-10100© of San Joaquin County Ordinance. The following sections include
background information regarding the project site and the proposed development, past
and present uses of the site, existing septic tank performance and permitting, and the
groundwater conditions in the project area. In addition, discussions regarding our
investigative procedures and the site conditions encountered during our field
exploration are included. Finally, the results of our percolation tests, nitrate loading
calculations, and subsequent conclusions are presented.
2. SITE DESCRIPTION / PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
At the time of our study, the existing development at the 208.53-acre Micke Grove
Park site included an approximate 130-acre golf course, a zoo, picnic areas,
museums, and various other recreational areas. Future development is proposed on
approximately 47 acres of property located at the north side of the park. This area
consisted of a relatively-flat field covered with dense weed growth and scattered trees.
The proposed development includes the construction of a lake, a fountain, picnic
areas, an access road, a public restroom, and various other improvements. The
proposed expansion area was bound to the north by Armstrong Road, to the east by
Micke Grove Road, to the west by railroad tracks, and to the south by the existing
Micke Grove Park. The existing parcel is zoned P-F.
We understand that an on-site septic/leach field system will provide sewage disposal
for the public restroom constructed on the expansion property. We anticipate that an
existing well will provide water for the restroom. A map showing the approximate
locations of the proposed new restroom, septic/leach field, and well is presented on
Plate 2.
We understand that the largest proposed large picnic area will have a seating capacity
of approximately 200 to 250 people, and various subsidiary picnic areas will have
capacities of approximately 100 to 150 people.
