RE: Chemical Monitoring Reminder
This letter is to inform you that San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed
the water system files. Based on our records EHD has not received the results for chemical monitoring that
the California Safe Water Drinking Act (SDWA) requires of this water system. To prevent this water system
from becoming out of compliance with the SDWA, contact your California Certified Lab and make
arrangements to have water samples collected from the wellhead(s) before the end of December 2002. If
the system has been sampled, then forward a copy of the result(s) to EHD. If by January 10, 2003, EHD
has not received the result(s) then the operator of this water will be in violation _of the SDWA and further
enforcement may be required. Please be aware that you will be billed at a rate of $89 per hour for any
further enforcement activity required.
Specifically, EHD has not received the following chemical monitoring results:
SECONDARY (AESTHETICS): General Mineral and General Physical are due once every 3 years
(California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 22, Section 64449 (c)).
INORGANIC CHEMICALS: Required once every three years (CCR, Title 22, Section 64432 (b)(1)). This
Department currently waives asbestos and cyanide.
NITRATES: Required annually (CCR, Title 22, Section 64432 (a)).
❑ NITRITES: Required once every three years (CCR, Title 22, Section 64432 (a)).
VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS (VOCs): Required once every 6 years (CCR, Title 22, Section
64445.1. )
SYNTHETIC ORGANIC COMPOUNDS (SOCs): Required once every three years (CCR, Title 22, Section
64445.1). This Department currently waives SOCs except for DBCP and EDB.
RADIOLOGICAL: Required every four years if compliance is met by conducting four consecutive calendar
quarterly samples (CCR, Title 22, Section 64441).
