IU
J. -H.. KLEINFELDER & ASSOCIATES File No. S-2578-1
October 12, 1983
Page Two
The groundwater table appears to have dropped over the past few years.
During the 1970's, groundwater measurements were in the range of 50 to 70 feet
below the ground surface. Recent test drilling and information compiled by the
County, indicate that the groundwater table is now in the range of 75 to 90 feet
below the existing ground surface. Fluctuations •in the groundwater should be
anticipated, however, it is unlikely that the groundwater table will ever rise
to atj)ve 50 feet.
In summary, from a geotechnical standpoint, it is our professional opinion
that the Austin Road site is suitable for use as a solid waste disposal faci-
lity. The two main reasons are that the majority of underlying soils are rela-
tively impermeable and the groundwater table is at sufficient depth to minimizt;
contamination by leachate.
We trust that this letter summarizes our recent discussions with your office
and provides the information requested. If you have any questions or need addi-
tional information, please contact us.
U
Respectf ully submitted,
Kleinfelder i Associates
Ron Heinzen, C. E.
