(0
SOIL INFORMATION AND SOIL TEST RESULTS
The UC Davis Soil Web Map indicates the Map Units of the subject property to be 85% Sailboat
silt loam, with 5% Columbia, 5% Cosumnes and 5%Egbert silt loams composing the remainder
of the soil structure.
The soil investigation began with a boring to the water table using a B-24 Mobile Drill Rig. A
split-spoon sampler was used to take samples from the prescribed depths referenced in Table 1.
Photographic plates found in Appendix D, illustrate the compact, dense silt soil structure within
samples obtained by the sampler. The water table was determined to be 11.5 ft bgs in the deep
exploratory boring. After drilling, this boring was backfilled with bentonite. The chemical
analyses of the native soils to be excavated are found in the Soil Analysis Reports,Appendix C.
TABLE 1
SOIL SAMPLE DATA: SAMPLE NUMBER DEPTH (IN INCHES AND/OR FEET),
NITRATE NITROGEN CONTENT, SOIL TEXTURE
SAMPLE NUMBER NO,-N CONTENT SOIL TEXTURE
36-46(3 FT-3.8 FT)(FERC TEST#2) 28 ppm SANDY LOAM
78-90(6.5 FT-7.5 FT)(FERC TEST#3) 28 ppm SILT LOAM
9 FT- 10 FT(EXPLORATORY) 15 ppm LOAM
i
11 FT- 12 FT(EXPLORATORY) 14 ppm LOAM
3 FT-WEST(PERC TEST#1) 181 ppm LOAM
7 FT WEST(EXPLORATORY) 64 ppm LOAM
PERCOLATION TESTING
To assess the existing permeability of the presently denoted replacement area, proposed to become
the primary leachfield, three percolation test borings were completed in the location depicted on
the Site Plan map, in addition to the percolation test results, found in Appendix E.
After drilling, two inches of pea gravel was placed at the bottom and a three-inch perforated PVC
pipe was inserted in each test boring. After these procedures, the borings were pre-saturated with
12 inches of water approximately 24 hrs prior to the start of testing.
On March 17, 2022,percolation testing commenced at 0730 hrs. No standing water was observed
in each test boring after the 24-hr soak period. Consequently, EHD Pere Test Procedure#2 was
conducted. Testing was done over a four-hour period to induce maximum soil saturation.
A summary of the perc test results with corresponding application rates in gallons of effluent
accepted per square foot of soil per day are illustrated below in Table 2:
Page -2-
Chesney Consulting
