CHAVEZ SUBJECT- AMENDMENT <br /> TO: ALL PERSONNEL <br /> Effective immediately, General Order E-5, Section II., Subsection B., 3., b., is amended, <br /> and Subsection B., 4., is added to read as follows: <br /> ll. PROCEDURES <br /> B. Special Procedures: Booking in Holding Cells <br /> 3. Handling of injured or intoxicated persons prior to booking. <br /> b. Any person arrested or detained who shows signs of, or <br /> states that he/she has lice, fleas, ticks or other vermin <br /> on his/her body, will be administered necessary <br /> treatment by a recognized medical facility prior to being <br /> placed in a cell. The prisoner will be isolated from other <br /> inmates until! such time as he/she can be transported, <br /> or is no longer contagious. <br /> C. Intoxicated persons will be placed in separate cells as <br /> space permits. <br /> d. All other persons will be placed in separate cells as <br /> space permits. <br /> 4. Suicide Prevention <br /> a. During the arrest and booking processes, officers <br /> should be sensitive to indications that a prisoner might <br /> be suicidal so that preventive measures can be taken. <br />
