(Nestle), Haley&Aldrich, Inc. (Haley&Aldrich) has prepared this Revised
Well Installation Work Plan (Revised Work Plan)to describe the planned installation of one groundwater
extraction well and two groundwater injection wells for replenishing the aquifer with treated water as
part of the implementation of the North Area groundwater Interim Remedial Action (IRA). This IRA is
being implemented to remediate groundwater containing trichloroethene and cis-1,2-dichloroethene in
an area northwest of the former Nestle facility located at 230 Industrial Avenue in Ripon, California (Site;
Figure 1) and north of the City of Ripon wastewater treatment plant (WWTP; Figure 1);this IRA area is
referred to as the "North Area" hereafter, and is also shown in Figure 1.
Haley&Aldrich previously submitted a Well Installation Work Plan (Work Plan)to the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board (Water Board) on 2 November 2021.The Water Board responded
with comments on the Work Plan in a letter dated 23 December 2021, and Haley&Aldrich submitted a
letter responding to the Water Board comments on 22 February 2022.
The initial Work Plan proposed installing an extraction well (RPS-3) as a combined Cl-and C2-Zone well.
During the engineering design process subsequent to submittal of the Work Plan, Haley&Aldrich
determined that it would be advantageous to retain existing well RPS-1 as a C1-Zone extraction well and
install RPS-3 as a C-2 Zone extraction well. This will allow for the extraction rate in each Zone to be
adjusted independently based on groundwater conditions and field observations. Haley&Aldrich
discussed this change in construction with the Water Board during a virtual meeting on 10 January 2022.
This Revised Work Plan incorporates the changes above and discusses the well installation methods.
www.haleyaldrich.com
