Winterization Plan
Forward Landfill
1991-1992
FACILITY DRAINAGE PROCEDURES
Waste Management Units
WASTE MANAGEMENT UNIT A (WMU-A)
Surface water flow from WMU-A enters an east by west curb and
gutter system along the northern property boundary paralleling the
main entrance road. A six foot wide valley gutter was installed
across the main entrance road to join the flowline of the curb and
gutter. At the western end of the curb and gutter, water is
channeled into the storm water retention basin north of WMU-D:89.
The access road that lies between WMU-A and the retention basin are
graded at 2%, directing all surface water to drain into the
retention basin. Additionally, a drainage culvert was installed
along the western boundary of WMU-A for surface water collection
and diversion to the storm water retentionbasinnorth of WMU-D:89.
WASTE MANAGEMENT UNIT B AND D-87
Surface water runoff from WMU-B and WMU-D:87 is directed to
the south through a series of ridge and swale valleys into
corrugated metal down drains. The down drains collect and divert
surface water to the storm water retention basin located in the
southwest portion ofthe facility.
WASTE MANAGEMENT UNIT D-88 SOUTH AND E
WMU-D:88 south, all surface water is directed through mass
sheeting to a central collection culvert along the western portion
of the pit. From the culvert, water travels north into a central
collection depression (181x14'x4') where it is temporarily held.
The water is then transferred to the Leachate Evaporation pond via
a PVC piping system.
WMU-E, all surface water is contained within the waste
management unit and collected through the Leachate Collection
Recovery System (LCRS).
WASTE MANAGEMENT UNIT D-88 NORTH
All surface water is directed to the west through mass
sheeting. At that point, the water is channeled into a down drain
and directed to a culvert. The culvert transfers the water into
the southwest retention basin.
2
