KLEINFEL E
WHMS-IM14100111
Forward Inc. is completing a new waste treatment unit within WMU-G on the north side of
the landfill. As a result, the line of wells which monitor the point of compliance along the
north property boundary must be extended to monitor the new unit.
Ground water elevation measurements over the last few years indicate that the ground
water gradients frequently swing to the east and southeast in the southern part of the
landfill. As a result, the present background well (MW -12/12B) is occasionally
downgradient of the Eastern Ash Pit and WMU-F, and the eastern property boundary
along Austin Road may not be monitored fully to the south of MW -13/13B.
Kleinfelder proposes to install three new wells (MW -17 through MW -19) along the
northern boundary downgradient of WMU-G, one new background well at the western
edge of the property (MW -20), and one new monitoring well (MW -16) on the eastern
property boundary south of MW -13/13B. Proposed monitoring well locations are shown
on Plate 1. Details of the proposed construction of the wells are presented in the following
scope of services.
The installation will be in a phased approach. Phase 1 (MW -17, 18, 19) will be installed
starting April 14 or 15. Phase 2 (MW -16 and 20) wells will be installed at a yet to be
determined date.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
Drilling, Installing, and Developing Five Monitoring Wells
Five borings will be drilled at locations shown on Plate 1. The borings will be drilled to
approximate depths of 100 feet following the protocol described in Appendix A, Section
A-2. A 4 -inch well will be installed in each boring, following the protocol described in
Appendix A, Section A-3.1.
Following installation, the wells will be developed to remove sediment and set the filter
pack. The wells will be developed as described in Appendix A, Section A-3.2.
The tops of the well casing will be surveyed as described in Appendix A, Section A-3.3. It
is assumed that Forward Inc. will arrange for the wells to be surveyed.
Following well installation, the new wells will be incorporated into the Post -Closure and
Chapter 15 Monitoring Programs for Forward Landfill.
Report of Findings
Upon completion of the field activities described above, a report of monitoring well
construction activities and observations will be prepared.
FW -92-04
Copyright 1992 Meinfelder, Inc.
