In order to protect the ground water and your <br />drinking water source from potential degradation, please take the associated corrective actions. <br />❑ Lack of or inadequate concrete platform around wellhead. <br />(SJC Water Well Standards, Section 4.10. — Surface Seal) <br />Corrective Action: Install a concrete surface seal (pedestal) that is a minimum of 4 inches above <br />grade and extends 2 feet in all directions from the well casing. (About 5'X5') <br />❑ Lack of or inadequate sanitary seal at wellhead. <br />(SJC Ord. Code, Title 9, Section 9-1115.5. —Well Regulations) <br />Corrective Action: Install a sanitary seal between casing and well cover plate/seal all gaps and <br />openings. <br />M Lack of Sampling Tap. <br />(SJC Water well Standards, Section 4.13. — Sampling Tap) <br />Corrective Action: Install a non -threaded sampling tap between the wellhead and the check valve <br />or within three (3) feet of the well head. <br />❑ Lack of or inadequate backflow prevention. <br />(SJC Water Well Standards, Section 4.14. — Backflow Prevention) <br />Corrective Action: Install an approved protective device to prevent backflow and/or back siphon <br />into a well. <br />❑ Sounding tube or air vent not sealed. <br />(SJC Water Well Standards, Section 4.13. — Sounding Tube/Air Vent Pipe) <br />Corrective Action: Sounding Tube or Fill Pipe -Install a watertight, threaded cap at the upper end <br />of the pipe.
