NLS§3.3, SSS§5.3, 5.4. Table 1 below summarizes the analyzed soil physical and chemical
characteristics from the retrieved soil samples:
TABLE 1
mm
SOIL PROFILECHARACTERISTICS AND
ANALYTICAL TEST RESULTS
SAMPLE I.D.DEPTH SOIL TEXTURE SOIL NITRATE- pH AND
i LASSIFICATION NITROGEN CATION EXCHANGE CAPACITY
AAMN
(LSCS) CON .;;;;; In meq/long
5 FT Loam 3 ppm NO;N 8.1 18.4 meq/100g
(ML-CL)
10 FT Loam 1 ppm NO;N 7.6 19.9 meq/100g
(ML-CL)
15 FT Loamy Sand 1 ppm NO,-N 7.5 4.9 meq/1008
(ML-CL)
20 FT Sandy Loam 1 ppm NO,-N 7.9 10.9 meq/100(,
(SW-ML)
25 FT Sandy Clay Loam 2 ppm NO,-N 7.9 18.3 meq/100(,
(SW-CL-ML)
C. PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS
SSS§ 6.2. The permeability of the proposed leachline soils and seepage pit soils was assessed
through percolation testing and a falling head permeability test. Test locations are depicted on the
project Site Plan.
SSS§ 6.3. After drilling;the sidewalls of the two shallow borings were scored with a pry-bar to
open potentially smeared soil surfaces and the cuttings removed. Two inches of pea gravel was
placed at the bottom and a three-inch perforated PVC pipe was inserted in each of the four test
borings. After these procedures, the borings were pre-saturated with 12 inches of water
approximately 24 hrs prior to the start of testing.
SSS§6.4, 6.5. On September 1, 2022,percolation testing commenced at 1000 hrs for the two deep
test borings. No standing water was observed in these borings after the 24-hr pre-soak period.
Consequently, EHD Perc Test Procedure#2 was conducted. Testing was done over a four-hour
period to induce maximum soil saturation. A summary of the perc test results with corresponding
application rates in gallons of effluent accepted per square foot of soil per day, along with the
averages, are illustrated below.
On September 2,2022,perc tests for the two shallow test borings, representative of the proposed
leachlines was conducted. Testing protocol was the same as for the two deep test borings.
Unexpected results were obtained, which are discussed in the Conclusions Section.
Page -3-
Chesney Consulting
