New Waste Collection Services coming in Spring 2004 _J - J � �; J i n J Green & Food Waste 'trash Use this wheeled 60 - gallon recycling cart, with a I 1 1 x)'1'1 lid, to recycle a wider variety of items now accepted through the City's newly expanded recy- cling program. Examples of items accepted in the expanded recycling program:* Paper: • Newspaper • Cardboard - new! • Catalogs & Junk mail - new! • Magazines - new! • All clean white & colored paper, cereal boxes, paper bags, etc. - new! Plastic Containers: All plastic containers with a number from 1 through 7 inside the triangular recycling symbol - expandedl Cans: • Steel & tin cans • Drink cans • Aerosol cans (empty) - new! Glass: • Glass bottles & jars Scrap Metals New to program! Scrap metal includes items such as cast iron pans, aluminum foil and other small scrap metal pieces. Small Appliances: New to program! Small appliances includes items such as blenders & coffee makers. Electronic Scrap: New to program! Electronic scrap in- cludes items such as handheld games, radios & telephones Acceptable Green Waste:* • Branches • Brush • Cut flowers • Plants • Grass clippings • House plants • Leaves • Prunings • Shrubs • Weeds • Wood (uncoated and untreated) • Wood chips • Yard trimmings Use this wheeled 90 - gallon cart, with a GREEN lid, for garden trimmings and food waste. Remember... green waste will no longer be placed in the street for pick-up! Acceptable Food Waste: • Beans • Bread • Cereal • Cheese • Coffee grounds (no filters) • Dairy products • Egg shells • Fruit • Fruit pits & seeds • Grains • Nuts & nutshells • Pasta • Tealeaves (no bags) • Tofu • Vegetables Use this wheeled trash cart, with a GRAY lid for items that are not recyclable through the City's newly expanded recy- cling program. 30-, 60- or 90 -gallon carts available. Additional notes for the new program Stockton residents will be provided a new service for collection of used oil, oil filters and household batteries at the curb. Used oil, oil filters and household batter- ies are considered hazardous waste and, as such, require special handling. When securely placed on the ground out- side and next to the carts, these items will be collected separately on your regular service day. • Used oil will be picked up only if it is sealed in a plastic jug with screw top lid; • Used oil filters will be picked up only if they are sealed in clear plastic bags; and, • Household batteries will be picked up only if they are sealed in clear plastic bags.
