Delta Blood Bank <br /> Medical Waste Management Plan (New 1/02) Page 1 of 3 <br /> 1100.ODELTA BLOOD BANK'S MEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN <br /> 110LOThis plan outlines the accumulation, storage, and removal of medical waste <br /> generated by Delta Blood Bank <br /> 110 1.1 This facility is located at 65 North Commerce Street Stockton, CA. <br /> 1101.2This facility, a large quantity generator and transfer station, generates <br /> approximately 1800 pounds of medical waste in one month. <br /> 1101.3Medical Waste generated consists of sharps waste and material <br /> contaminated with blood. Medical waste does not include paper towels, <br /> paper products, articles containing nonfluid blood and other medical solid <br /> waste products commonly found in the facilities of medical waste <br /> generators]. <br /> 1101 AThis facility is a holder of a limited quantity hauling exemption. <br /> 1101.5Medical waste generated is removed by a registered hazardous waste <br /> hauler service, Stericycle. <br /> 1101.6Delta Blood Bank is not a medical waste treatment facility. <br /> 1102.OThis section defines how medical waste is segregated, contained, and labeled at <br /> this facility. <br /> 1102.1 Sharps devices, such as lancets or needles, are placed into approved sharps <br /> containers immediately after use. These sharps containers when full are <br /> placed in rigid containers that are lined with two red biohazardous bags. <br /> 1102.2When full, the biohazardous bags are tied to prevent leakage or expulsion <br /> of contents during future storage, handling, or transport2. <br /> 1102.30ther material contaminated with blood are placed directly into the rigid <br /> containers lined with red biohazardous bags. <br /> 1102AThe rigid containers, a puncture proof tote or containers provided by <br /> biohazardous waste hauler, are labeled with the words `Biohazardous <br /> Waste" or with the international biohazard symbol and the word <br /> CAMy Documents\Safety\Medwastecent.doe <br /> Compliance Review: oCl®#cam Date: '3-5-0-2- <br /> Document <br /> -5-02Document Approved for Use:_ Date: <br />
