List the types of medical Waste generated at your facility <br /> • Biohazardous waste <br /> • Sharps (needles, syringes, blades etc.) <br /> • Isolation waste <br /> • Pathological and surgical waste <br /> • Pharmaceutical waste <br /> • Trace Chemotherapy <br /> 2. Estimate the monthly amount of medical waste generated at your facility <br /> • Kaiser Permanente Manteca Medical Center generates approximately 3993 <br /> (average Jan through December 2009) pounds/month. <br /> 3. Describe the medical waste handling procedures utilized by and applicable to <br /> your facility <br /> (a) Onsite location and method for segregation, containment, packaging, labeling, <br /> and collection <br /> • All medical waste is separated and disposed at the point of origin. <br /> • Waste will be contained in either a red bag and/or ridged containers with lids. <br /> • Waste will be labeled on all sides and top to be visible from any lateral direction. <br /> • Reusable rigid containers are used to transport medical waste from the department <br /> to the containment area. <br /> • All containers shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. <br /> • Containers are lined with plastic liners and when liners are removed they are <br /> placed in bio-hazard bag. <br /> • Carts will be cleaned according to Infection Control Policy EC.EV.082 cleaning <br /> procedures for medical waste carts. <br /> • The method of decontamination is exposure to germicide solution per the <br /> manufactures recommendations. <br /> Revised June 29,2010 <br /> Plan maintained by Manteca EVS Department <br />
